For items below the SGD 400 De Minimis if: |
a. The sender has in excess of SGD1M global turnover and sends in excess of SGD100K value of goods to Singapore each year – then they would have to register and are required to collect what is called the Low Value Goods (LVG) Tax of 8% (currently). |
b. In addition, if they send via a postal channel, they must include details of their GST No and an indicator to say which item/s have the LVG paid on the CN22/23. |
For items above SGD400 De Minimis – GST of 8% (currently) is to be collected from recipient before delivery can take place. There are no exceptions and there is no difference for high value goods. The same GST is collected. |
When they come through a postal channel and GST requires collection, the customer will be notified and they can pay via the SingPost Mobile App before the delivery takes place or they can make their way to the Singapore Customs office to pay the GST and collect the item themselves. |
