• In order to ensure a delivery on time, please ensure that your parcel has the full, correct address, an email address in the correct format and a mobile or landline number for the intended recipient. This will help the delivery partner to ensure the parcel is delivered correct first time. This should be clearly marked on the parcel.

• The Taxation (Annual Rates for 2019-20, GST Offshore Supplier Registration and Remedial Matters) Act received royal assent on 26 June 2019 and is now enacted.
• From 1 December 2019, offshore sellers (including electronic marketplaces and redeliverers) will be required to register and account for GST (Goods and Services Tax) at 15% on supplies of low value imported goods (LVIGs) if sales to New Zealand private consumers in a 12-month period exceed NZ$60,000. The $60,000 threshold is the same GST registration threshold that applies to domestic businesses and offshore suppliers of cross-border remote services.

• Sending parcels to New Zealand requires customs paperwork for most items
• In addition, certificates of origin are required for motor vehicle parts and when claiming preferential trade rates.
• Some restrictions exist on military equipment.
• From 1 July 2020, tobacco products, tobacco leaf and tobacco refuse will become prohibited imports and you will be required to have a permit to import these products. Permits are approved and issued by New Zealand customs. That means if you want to send someone in New Zealand any kind of tobacco product including as a gift, you will have to apply for a permit here 
• Import quotas are in place for textiles when the country of origin is outside the EU. In addition, some rules apply to the labelling of woollen goods.
• Hay, straw, chaff etc are prohibited as packaging materials and wooden crates or boxes should not be used.
• Whisky, brandy and rum must be accompanied by a customs certificate of age. Minimum three years for whisky and brandy and two years for rum
