The last 10 years in the e-commerce world have seen the launch of a number of online marketplaces, so a new one needs to be pretty special, right? Step forward OnBuy.com. Until now, the marketplace arena has been dominated by e-commerce giants Amazon and eBay. Amazon’s presence online is so strong that half of consumers now turn to the platform first when looking for a product*. eBay, which unlike Amazon operates solely as a marketplace – facilitates C2C as well as B2C sales. With their roots in the US, both have been at the forefront of some serious innovation and diversification since their launch in the 1990s.

So what can a new marketplace offer sellers and consumers?

OnBuy launched to sellers in November 2016, offering some of the lowest commission rates across all online marketplaces. The site now has more than 200,000 products listed – and that figure is increasing each week - across a range of categories, including books, DVDs, clothing, furniture, electricals and toys including household names such as LEGO, Star Wars and Transformers. Sellers who have already signed include World of Books Ltd and Chalky’s, a major UK seller of CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays. Cas Paton, Managing Director at OnBuy, says: “We believe in our model, which is that straight-forward, low-cost options for sellers translate into better prices for consumers. It’s a concept that sellers have bought into enthusiastically, and we now have hundreds of sellers signed up offering hundreds of thousands of products at highly competitive prices. “For example, we currently have the deluxe version of Ed Sheeran’s smash hit CD, Divide, on offer at  just £8.99 – a price which we haven’t seen beaten anywhere online. It’s one small taste of the power of OnBuy and the revolution in online shopping that it is bringing to consumers and sellers alike.” OnBuy offers two simple packages for sellers, each designed to give them the best value depending on their requirements. Sellers can switch between account types at any time. The OnBuy website is live and accepting orders with sellers continuing to be added daily. If you are looking to send a parcel or parcels, why not check out our great offer for OnBuy customers.
